Collard continues to impress after taking Pole at Oulton Park

1 Mins read

Ricky Collard continues his form from Friday practice by taking pole ahead of his teammate around the Oulton Park circuit. The BRDC British F3 championship leader will be the man to watch after setting his pole time early in the session.

All 21 drivers took to the track with Collard setting the early pace, with a 1min 31.649. The Carlins were quick to lock out the front three places, before Ameya Vaidyanathan was pushed down by faster cars.

Two drivers who dominated the opening half of the session, were Collard and Colton Herta. Perhaps rather unsurprisingly though, two further drivers joined the melee were the two drivers who’d topped the other practice sessions, Thomas Randle and Brazilian Matheus Leist.

Jan Jonck was determined to upset the order, as the Dane went second, still 0.478 seconds slower than Collard. Meanwhile, Ben Hingeley and Tarun Reddy found their lap times disallowed for extending track limits.

Having spent most of the session comfortably on top, Collard finally found himself under threat from Herta, but it proved to be too little too late as the session was red flagged.

With Sisa Ngebulana returning to the pits on the back on a flat bed truck, it was presumed to be the South African that had had the off, bringing back memories of his crash at the end of Friday practice. With only two minutes remaining the session was brought to a halt.

This left Collard on pole alongside his team mate Herta. Behind them, Randle continued his strong form by going third ahead of the ever impressive Jonck and Leist. Completing the third row was the final Carlin of Vaidyanathan.
