Live: British GT Championship Round 4 – Oulton Park

After an action packed race one, the British GT Championship gets ready to go again for the second of the two one-hour races at Cheshire’s fabulous Oulton Park.

Adam Carroll was a dominant winner in race one in the Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan GT3 he shares with Liam Griffin but starting sixth in this race, they’ll have a lot of work to do to get themselves in the same position again.

Starting on pole this time is the #31 Team Parker Racing Bentley Continental GT3 with Seb Morris behind the wheel which was charging hard in race one but had to settle for third place in the end so will be keen to make use of pole position.

In GT4, the PMW World Expo Racing Ginetta G55 GT4 of Mike Robinson and Graham Johnson is again on pole position with the Simpson Motorsport Ginetta with Scott Malvern starting that car. Starting very much out of position in that class is the #45 RCIB Insurance Racing Ginetta G55 GT4 which will be started by Jordan Stilp. Finishing third in race one, the car has qualified 13th and last for this race.

Welcome to the live blog for the second race of the day at Oulton Park. The Pro drivers are starting this time round and the sun is shining!

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:30

The field are coming up through Deer Leap and we are racing! Morris has claimed the lead going through Old Hall and Adam Carroll has already gone up to 4th place

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:33

Seb Morris leads by a decent amount at the end of the first lap with Rob Bell in 2nd place and Ross Gunn 3rd.

In GT4 Scott Malvern is in the lead with Matthew George 2nd and Mike Robinson third in the pole sitting PMW World Expo Ginetta. Abbie Eaton has moved up from 8th to 4th on the opening lap!
Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:35

Morris already leads by more than 3 seconds over Rob Bell’s McLaren who is himself under attack from Ross Gunn’s Beechdean Aston

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:36

Morris again is on fire, he’s set the fastest lap with a 1:34.843 to knock another second onto his lead – it’s 4 seconds now

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:39

It’s more than five seconds now, what are Team Parker Racing feeding Seb Morris?

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:41

On the move in GT4 is Abbie Eaton’s Maserati, she’s in fourth at the moment but is closing in on Mike Robinson’s third placed PMW Ginetta

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:45

The GT3 leaders are picking through GT4 traffic now, that might have slowed leader Morris a bit – the leads shrunk to “just” 5.2 seconds with 15mins gone

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:45

Speaking of GT4, Scott Malvern is still holding position in first position with Matthew George a second or two behind in the SuperRacing Aston

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:48

Reports are suggesting the #56 Ginetta has pulled off at Hislops, Mike Simpson had issues with the sister #32 car earlier and retired just a few laps into the race

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:49

Jake Giddings has also pulled in the #47 JW Bird Aston with what is thought to be a mechanical issue

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:51

There’s smoke coming from the GT4 leader! It looks like bodywork is rubbing on the tyre and he’s run wide at cascades sacrificing the lead!

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:54

The #66 is in the pits now, Scott Malvern was in the car as it started smoking quite a bit on that last lap round.

The #47 went out but has come straight back in again
Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:55

The #66 pulling in means that Matthew George now has the GT4 class lead with Mike Robinson second and Abbie Eaton third

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:55

At the front of GT3, Seb Morris has opened a 10 second lead over Rob Bell’s McLaren

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:57

The first competitors are pitting now with the lower order of GT4 coming in now

Joe Hudson May 30, 201615:58

The #14 Audi has flown into the pits now, close to hitting the barriers

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:00

The Demon Tweeks Lamborghini is in the pits now, coming out of fifth place

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:02

The Bentley is in the pits now and Rob Bell stays out for an extra lap so takes the lead.

Behind them the Irish TV liveried Lambo comes in as does Ross Gunn in the #1 Aston
Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:03

Second place in GT4 – Mike Robinson – is in the pits now

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:04

The leader is also in – Rob Bell has brought in the McLaren and he is being stalked down pit lane by Jonny Adam in the TF Sport Aston

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:06

After the pit stops, Parfitt is leading in the Bentley with Alisdair McCaig’s McLaren in 2nd and Andrew Howard in 3rd

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:09

James Holder in the #44 has made an error somewhere, he’s slipped from 1st to 4th in GT4, meaning Anna Walewska now leads in GT4

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:12

Drive-through for both the Beechdean cars the GT3 of Andrew Howard and the GT4 of Jack Bartholomew – it’s been listed as a pitstop infringement

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:16

The James Holder Aston Martin is in the gravel now, he didn’t see a Ginetta coming up to overtake him and they collided at Knickerbrook

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:19

The former GT4 leader #66 Ginetta is back out now, must have just been a small problem

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:23

The leading Bentley has more than 10 seconds in hand over the 2nd place McLaren of Alisdair McCaig

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:24

Anna Walewska has gone into the tyre wall at Lodge, that means Graham Johnson has taken the lead in GT4 with Marcus Hoggarth in 2nd

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:26

RED FLAG – They’ve ended the race early now and it won’t restart.

Joe Hudson May 30, 201616:28

That means in GT3 Rick Parfitt takes a stunning GT3 victory with Alisdair McCaig and the Ecurie Ecosse McLaren unable to catch up. Third is the Minshaw Lamborghini.

In GT4, Graham Johnson has inherited victory for the PMW World Expo Racing Ginetta with the Ebor GT Maserati in second with Aaron Mason taking a podium on his first weekend in the car!
