Bulega Signs Two Year Extension with Sky VR46

Nicolo Bulega will remain with the Sky Racing Team VR46 for a further two years after signing a contract extension with the Italian squad. The 16 year old has impressed during his rookie season at Grand Prix level, claiming his maiden pole position at Jerez before going on to take his first podium finish in the race itself, and will hope the continuity enables him to compete for regular victories.

With the news coming so early in the season, Bulega is now glad to be concentrating on the racing from now on with no outside distractions.

“It is definitely a very important step of my young career. This is an important confirmation that comes from a team that has believed in me since the beginning. I’m part of a great family that supports me in this incredible adventure in the Moto3. They are always focused on the teamwork and I’m proud of this first goal, but it will be important to keep concentrated for achieving the best in every GP from here till the end of the season”.

Team manager Pablo Nieto is delighted to have tied down such a talented rider for two more years having been impressed with his early performances.

“I’m really happy to continue this adventure with Nicolò. He is a part of a great project, which believes in the young talents and I’m sure it will reserve us an incredible future. In this half part of the season we did a great job: Nicolò has surprised everybody achieving very important results. He is excited to continue with Sky and VR46 Riders Academy for the next two years: he can continue his growth focusing on his future”.
