Ginetta confirms Road to Le Mans driver lineup

1 Mins read

Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson and ELMS champion Charlie Robertson will contest the inaugural Road to Le Mans support race on June 19.

The pair will share a Ginetta LMP3 for the first time in the one-hour contest, competing against 21 other prototypes around the 8.5 mile circuit.

Tomlinson’s last appearance at the Circuit de la Sarthe came in 2009, when he raced a Ginetta-Zytek in the famous 24 hours.

Robertson, meanwhile, will make his racing debut at the track having completed test laps in 2015 aboard the same Ginetta LMP3.

“I am thrilled to be racing as part of the 24 Hours of Le Mans weekend once again and even more so as I’m going to be driving a Ginetta,” said Tomlinson. “I can’t think of a better place to race our 2015 ELMS championship-winning car.”

“I am delighted to be asked to join Lawrence in the Road To Le Mans race,” added Robertson, who won the European LMP3 title with Chris Hoy last season. “As a young driver it’s a privilege to be able to drive around the world’s most famous circuit, even more so as a participant in the official support race to the Le Mans 24 Hours.”

The 2016 Road to Le Mans begins on Wednesday, June 15 with the first of two one hour free practice sessions.

Qualifying takes place on Thursday, June 16 at 18:00, while the race itself gets underway at 11:10 on Sunday, June 19.
