Tregurtha Edges Wooder For Oulton Park Pole

1 Mins read

Will Tregurtha edged out Dave Wooder by less than a tenth of a second to take his maiden Ginetta Junior Championship pole position at Oulton Park.

The championship contender becomes the thirteenth different pole position holder in the last fourteen qualifying sessions in the championship.

Tregurtha took the top spot with a best effort of 1m 43.654s, denying Wooder pole position at Oulton for a second consecutive season by 97 hundredths of a second.

Wooder will only line up seventh on the grid however due to a grid penalty he picked up at Thruxton last time out, meaning the impressive Seb Priaulx will join Tregurtha on the front-row of the grid.

Thruxton poleman Seb Perez and Charlie Fagg will line up on the second row therefore, the latter matching his best qualifying result in the championship in fifth.

Championship leader Stuart Middleton could only muster the sixth fastest time, finishing up over four tenths of a second shy of his title adversary Tregurtha.

Kyle Hornby joins Middleton on the third row of the revised grid, with Wooder, Lewis Brown and Dan Harper next up, the latter being the second quickest rookie behind Priaulx.

Geri Nicosia, Tom Gamble and Max Bird complete a top twelve split by eight tenths of a second, with Enzo Fittipaldi picking up his best qualifying result so far in thirteenth.

After his star performance at Thruxton last time out, Harry King took 15th behind his Elite Motorsport team-mate Tom Wood, with Cameron Roberts down in 18th.

Full qualifying results can be found here.
