Wrigley Completes Perfect Oulton Park Weekend

1 Mins read

Tom Wrigley has made it five Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup race wins in a row after completing his Oulton Park double with another lights-to-flag success at the Cheshire circuit.

The victory capped off a perfect weekend for the championship leader, who secured pole position, two race wins, two fastest laps and led every lap of race competition.

The second race saw Wrigley quickly establish a 1.7 second lead within the first three laps, an advantage he maintained to the chequered flag for his sixth win of the campaign.

In a race which featured limited overtaking, the key move in the podium positions came at the beginning as a slow-starting Jamie Orton was leap-frogged by Mark Davies.

Triple Ginetta champion Davies briefly looked to challenge Will Burns for second, but the latter edged away as the race developed for his sixth podium of the year.

Davies meanwhile secured his first rostrum result of the campaign, with Orton left to settle for fourth ahead of Declan Jones, who had another lonely run to fifth place.

Carl Boardley completed the top six, while Reece Somerfield emerged from a close-fought battle with Callum Pointon in seventh, those two heading Ben Green and Tom Hibbert.

A dominant AM class victory went the way of Colin White, who finished nearly forty seconds clear of his nearest competitors as many of them suffered spins in the Cheshire sunshine.

Chris Ingram recovered from a 360 at Cascades to take second, while Fraser Robertson completed the class podium despite two separate rotations of his own.

Mike Newbold had been running P2 in class until he lost time with a moment at Island, while the race’s only retirement came when Grahame Tilley spun into the barriers at Old Hall.

Full race results can be found here.
