Massot Back On Track With Ginetta G57 Drive

1 Mins read

Former Michelin Ginetta GT4 Supercup front-runner Pepe Massot will be back behind the wheel of a Ginetta for the first time in two years this weekend as he makes his V de V Championship debut.

The Spaniard’s first race outing of the season will come on home tarmac at Motorland Aragon as he shares a Ginetta G57 prototype with fellow newbie, former British GT racer Dennis Strandberg.

Massot’s prototype racing debut comes at the end of a frustrating spell for the 20 year old, who has not raced so far this year due to unfortunate health problems.

Last season he completed a partial campaign in the Porsche Carrera Cup Deutschland with Team75 Bernhard, having switched to the Porsche competition in the GB series in mid-2014.

Prior to that, Massot had competed in one-make Ginetta racing for two and a half years, being a race-winner in both the Junior Championship in 2012 and the Supercup a year later.

Massot’s V de V opportunity will see him come up against familiar competition in Charlie Robertson, who won the 2012 Junior title and will race a CWS-entered G57 this weekend.

A total of five G57’s are set to compete at Motorland Aragon as the marque targets another PFV class win, with Robertson sharing his car with current Supercup AM class leader Colin White.

Ginetta chairman Lawrence Tomlinson and Michael Simpson will share another, while Italian outfit Nova Race are on track with Luca Magnoni and Jean-Pierre Leqeux.

The final G57 will be piloted by regular team-mates Nick Holden and Andy McKenna, who are joined by Remy Dogoffroy for the weekend.
