Max Verstappen admits to enjoying driving around the Hungaroring as the Red Bull Racing driver looks to continue his run of podium finishes this season and to better his fourth place finish at the circuit from twelve months ago.

The Dutchman has finished second at both the Red Bull Ring and at Silverstone, and is looking to make it a hat trick on a circuit that traditionally plays to the team’s strengths.

Verstappen is looking forward to driving the Hungarian Grand Prix circuit once more, feeling that it is a track that does not offer that much respite with all its twists and turns.

“Hungaroring is a great track and Budapest is a really cool city,” said Verstappen. “Normally when we arrive it’s pretty warm which is nice.

“I always enjoy driving there because it’s a small track with a big car so it gives a bit of a go kart feeling, it’s also pretty tough due to all the turns, so you don’t really get a chance to rest and usually end up pretty sweaty in the heat.

“Sector 2 is my favourite part of the track, it’s all about hitting the apex of one corner right so you are in the right position for the next one. If you get it wrong it’s a big time penalty, so you need to be really focused.

“I have been there a few times testing with 2.0 litre, with Formula 3 and once with F1 so I’m really looking forward to it again.”
