Pierre Gasly completed a strong final day of in-season testing at Silverstone for Red Bull Racing after finishing the session third, with the Red Bull Junior completing both days of the test for the Milton Keynes outfit.

On the opening day he finished the session in eleventh with a time of 1:43.89, while he managed to improve on this time to finish the session on Wednesday with a time of 1:31.429 to finish behind the Mercedes AMG PETRONAS of Esteban Ocon.

During the morning session, Gasly carried out aerodynamic work on the medium compound, before undertaking further evaluation work of test parts in the afternoon. He completed a total of 103 laps behind the wheel of the RB12 on Wednesday.

Gasly was really happy after completing the testing sessions, believing the feedback he reported back to Red Bull enabled him to get the best out of his laps.

“I’m really happy about today,” said Gasly. “We got more than 100 laps, which was really good.

“A lot of mileage on the medium tyres, a lot of long runs in which I could really get attuned to the car. We tested many things for the team, which was the most important thing and I tried to give really good feedback and to get the best out of all those laps.

“It’s not every day you get the chance to drive a Formula One car, especially with Red Bull. We put on a set of softs on at the end and we managed to do a pretty good lap, so all in all it was a really, really good day.”
