Following the sudden departure of Roldán Rodríguez from the team last Friday, BMW Team Teo Martin have announced that Pieter Schothorst will be his replacement to partner Miguel Ramos for the second half of the season.

Schothorst, a twenty-one year old Dutchman is no stranger to GT racing having competed in the Porsche Carrera German Cup and the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup.   In 2015, he had a season racing in the Blancpain Endurance Series (Pro/Am cup category) driving an Audi R8 LMS Ultra for the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT with Max Koebolt and Sacha Bottemanne

Having starting his career by competing in the Formula Renault 2.0 Eurocup and the NEC, He moved onto Endurance racing and captured a third place finish in the 2011 24-hours of Barcelona 24H Series event.

2016 has seen Schothorst driving in the Renault Sport Trophy and having won round three of the championship at the Red Bull Ring in Austria last weekend, his confidence should be high as he looks to adapt to life in the International GT Open championship and the BMW M6 GT3.

“First of all, I want to thank Teo.  I’m very happy we have come to an agreement for the last four rounds of the International GT Open.  Im very keen on working with BMW Team Teo Martin and the BMW M6 GT3.  I,m sure, together we will form a very strong package that can fight for wins , starting this weekend at Silverstone,” said Schothorst.

Miguel Ramos sits in third place in the drivers points standings after three rounds of the 2016 championship that has so far, yielded two victories with Rodríguez as his team-mate.  BMW Team Teo Martin currently lead the teams championship with a five point margin over the McLaren team Garage 59.
