Wehrlein “dream come true” to drive at the German GP

Wehrlein can't wait to drive the Manor at the German Grand Prix.

Pascal Wehrlein has described the chance to drive at in front of his home crowd as a dream come true ahead of the German Grand Prix.

“It’s amazing – a dream come true. Ever since I was a little boy, visiting the Hockenheimring for the first time with my parents, this has been my goal – to race in Formula 1 – and here, at this racetrack.”

The Manor Racing driver has driven well this season along with his teammate Rio Haryanto who has kept the young German very honest this season.

The F1 minnows are powered by Mercedes and at the home of the German manufacturer, Wehrlein will feel a special feeling driving a Mercedes powered Formula One car at the home of the German giants.

“I have been part of the Mercedes-Benz family for a few years now and it’s a real honour to be racing with them here. We have a group of Mercedes HPP engineers and mechanics within Manor Racing and, together with Silverstone, this is our team’s home race.”

Haryanto has reiterated the significance of the Mercedes influence at the German Grand Prix and the support he has received leading up to weekend.

“Everyone has been incredible and my sincere thanks for that. The team have been very supportive and also the fans, so I’m really happy that I will be racing here. It’s a big weekend for the sport, returning to Germany – the home race of our powertrain partner.”

Racing Director Dave Ryan, wants the team to impress the Mercedes-Benz top bosses and expects Pascal Wehrlein to shine in front of his home crowd.

Manor Racing will want a good race ahead of the summer break which will give the team a break ahead of a busy second half of the season.
