Ferdinand Habsburg secured two points finishes after a tricky weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, with the Fortec Motorsports driver enduring two tough qualifying sessions where he qualified well out of position, but felt he had a lot of fun making amends.

The Austrian was a lowly twenty-sixth in opening Formula Renault 2.0 NEC qualifying session and fourteenth in the second, but between the two races moved forward twenty-one places, finishing twelfth in race one and seventh in race two.

Habsburg admitted it was damage limitation during the races after starting so far back, and although not securing the results he was hoping for pre-weekend, now sits eighth in the championship standings despite having missed the opening weekend of the season.

“Fun, a really important part of racing and I had loads of fun this weekend,” said Habsburg. “Yesterday it was quite scary in the beginning but once the race got going I was overtaking people and doing a good job and the same today. I quite like driving in the rain, a lot of drivers don’t like it but it’s a good challenge.

“If you start at the back, it’s all about damage limitation and although we were really unlucky in qualifying, we were able to finish both races in the points. It was a fun weekend, not brilliant for the championship but I’ll take it.”
