Fittipaldi Closing On British F4 Drive For 2017

1 Mins read

Enzo Fittipaldi is set to switch to the British F4 Championship next season after a successful test at Rockingham last week.

The 15 year old, who currently races in the Ginetta Junior Championship for Douglas Motorsport, got behind the wheel of current Mygale-Ford machinery during a two day test.

Fittipaldi tested in Corby with Arden Motorsport in a car borrowed from Richardson Racing, though the Brazilian says he is considering Arden and Fortec Motorsport for 2017.

“The first day was about learning the car, and the second day I ran alongside Luis [Leeds – current F4 race-winner] and was about five tenths off his time so I was very happy,” Fittipaldi told Motorsport News.

“It’s a close deal to race next season, and I’m fairly confident the budget I there or almost there. There’s a 50 per cent chance I’ll race with Fortec and 50 per cent chance it’ll be with Arden.

“I’ve got some evaluating to do and I plan to do ten-twelve test days before next season.”

Fittipaldi is currently seventh in the Rookie class standings in his first season of car-racing, having taken a maiden class victory at Croft back in June.

The single-seater move will see him follow in the footsteps of his brother Pietro, who won the Formula Renault BARC title in 2014 and has since gone on to compete in European F3 and now the Formula V8 3.5 Series.
