Another dominant display from F4 British Championship leader; Petru Florescu, saw him take his sixth win of the season. He led away from pole at Knockhill, making the most of a poor race for his major rivals.
The start itself saw chaos in the midfield as Frank Bird half-spun, dropping him to the back and ruining his best qualifying of the season. The leaders though were safely away and started to break from those behind.
Elsewhere, Sennan Fielding ended a disaster Saturday in the gravel as he got caught up in the midfield. One driver who did make an excellent start was Zane Goddard. The Australian leaped up to fourth behind Nicolai Kjaergaard as the safety car was called for Fielding.
The front row drivers of Florescu and Alex Quinn lead the field away as the race was restarted. All cars were nose to tail as the battle for third saw Devlin DeFrancesco jump up ahead of Goddard and Kjaergaard.
Sadly for the Dane, he couldn’t maintain his ground as Jamie Caroline and Luis Leeds also overtook him, as the safety car came out for the crashed Billy Monger.
Florescu once again launched away from the start as a top four battle ensued for the lead. Quinn found it difficult to defend his position but narrowly held off DeFrancesco to take the second place.
Goddard finished an impressive fourth from Caroline, who’d fallen back in the latter stages. The biggest battle had been from sixth backwards with Leeds holding off a late charge from James Pull and teammate Max Fewtrell in eighth.
Quinn and Caroline line up the front row for race three after their times in qualifying. As for race two, thirteen finishers will see sixth place Leeds line up in front.
