Kevin Magnussen will face fitness tests this weekend at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza after his high speed crash at Spa-Francorchamps last weekend left him with a bruised left ankle.

The Renault Sport F1 driver lost control at Raidillon on the fifth lap on Sunday, hitting the barriers and causing a red flag whilst those barriers were repaired.

Magnussen was able to walk away from the crash but was taken to a local hospital in Verviers for evaluation, but was soon released as tests showed no fracture or serious injury.

The Dane will now undergo those fitness examinations in Italy this weekend in order to get clearance from the FIA to race.

“I’m feeling much better, which is very good news,” said Magnussen. “I’ve had several checks that show I am fit to race in Monza and I am sure I will be in the car this weekend.

“We were running in the top ten in Belgium and I’m very motivated to repeat this again in Italy.”
