Scuderia Toro Rosso have entered a long-term partnership with Acronis, increasing their one-off partnership from the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Ahead of the Grand Prix at the Hungaroring, the Faenza based outfit announced a one-off partnership with the global leader in hybrid cloud data protection. They have now confirmed the extension of the agreement to a new long-term partnership.

The new partnership will lead to rapid innovation, increased safety and enhanced performance both during races and off the track. The logo for Acronis will continue to be on the STR11 and their drivers’ race suits.

Showcasing the commitment of Acronis to the team, Toro Rosso will use their hybrid cloud data protection solutions to guarantee data availability when it’s most needed. Every Grand Prix weekend, the team produce up to 700 GB of data.

The use of sensors allows the team to have real-time information that is used throughout the race to improve performance. Along with the track side team receiving the information, it is also transferred to the factory.

Allowing the engineers and data analysts there to use it for car improvements and new race strategies.

Team Principal, Franz Tost said, “In our competitive environment it is becoming increasingly more important to protect all our technical information with a very high standard of software and Acronis can offer exactly what we need.

“Now that we have a long-term project together, we can’t wait to start working with Acronis, not only on a sponsorship level, but also in terms of adopting their data protection products within our factory and race team.”
