Although no longer in title contention, Dorian Boccolacci enjoyed a great weekend at Spa-Francorchamps, with the Frenchman finishing second in Saturday’s opener before following that up with a victory in race two on Sunday.

The Tech 1 Racing driver was forced to settle for second best behind team-mate Hugo de Sadeleer on Saturday, and was happy to see the team being so strong around the Belgian circuit.

“It was a good race,” said Boccolacci on renaultsport.com after race one. “We were able to see the good work done by Tech 1 Racing on this track.

“After qualifying very well, we finished one-two and I’m thrilled because I got the better of Max and Harrison, who I am battling with in the general classification. I hope to do it again tomorrow, while swapping places with Hugo!”

The result was almost reversed on Sunday, with Boccolacci indeed claiming victory after a late race pass on de Sadeleer, but Lando Norris found his way in between them to deny them a 1-2 finish and in doing so clinched the title, but the Frenchman was delighted to see such a strong weekend for the whole Tech 1 Racing team.

“It is always an huge pleasure to win!” said Boccolacci. “Yesterday, my engineer told me that second place was good, but that first would be even better. I took up the challenge and that’s what I did!

“It was a hectic race; I started fourth and was able to take the lead in what was a great fight with my team mate Hugo. Congratulations to him for his weekend. The team did an amazing job and I hope we can be as strong in Estoril!”
