Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Maurizio Arrivabene was happy with the outfit’s performance at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday, believing they chose the optimum strategy for drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen to allow them the strongest opportunity of achieving the best outcome on race day.

“Today we did our best, especially at the start which was very good. We chose the fastest possible strategy for the race, trying to achieve the best possible result.”

Although Arrivabene commented that he would ideally have loved to win the race in front of an adoring home crowd, he conceded that they came away with the best result they could have hoped for this weekend, at the ‘Cathedral of speed’.

“It was a good race, but of course we would have liked to do much better, as a way to pay back our fantastic fans who never failed to give us their support and were always close to us, in particular here in our home race at Monza.”

The Italian is in a positive mood as the F1 fraternity head to Singapore in a couple of weeks’ time, and Ferrari’s strong performance at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza has left the 59-year-old confident that the Scuderia have finally started to made a further step forward, and are beginning to progress in a direction he is happy with.

“The team worked well and unitedly, both here and in Maranello, and we’ve seen some positive signs. Now the focus has already shifted to the next round at Singapore.”
