Omar Ismail will return to the BRDC British F3 Championship for the first time since he made a one-off bow at the start of the season. The young British driver will race for the Chris Dittmann Racing squad replacing Quinlan Lall who will not be racing at Donington.

The 17-year-old notably made his debut last season for the CDR squad. In only he fourth race he took pole position and a win, going on to collect another podium at Brands Hatch. He was a regular in the top five during qualifying and despite missing the first two rounds, finished ninth in the standings.

Sadly, 2016 has been less successful for Ismail. After moving to HHC Motorsport, he struggled in the opening round picking up a best result of twelfth. He hasn’t raced since, though is looking forward to getting back into the car after five months out.

Ismail said: “It’s been a tough year for me all round but I am glad I have this opportunity to get back in the seat one more time before the end of 2016.

“I have a really good working relationship with Chris Dittmann Racing from a great season last year and hopefully we will be able to pull out some good results like before.”

He’ll join regular drivers Krishnaraaj Mahadik and Kenyan Jeremy Wahome. The pair have generally struggled so far this season, with Mahadik’s sixth place at Brands the best result for the team this year.

Meanwhile, Chris Dittmann, Team Principal of CDR, added: “It’s great to welcome Omar back to the team after our successful relationship last year. It’s a shame Quinlan is unable to race especially after his recent form, however we’re really excited to see what Omar can achieve.

“It’s going to be tough for him after five months out of the car, however we’re confident we’ll get him up to speed quickly. Both Krishnaraaj and Jeremy have been driving well recently so I’m hoping all three drivers can push each other and we can have a strong end to the season.”
