After seeing Kevin Magnussen score only the team’s second points finish of 2016 in Singapore, Renault Sport F1 team principal Fred Vasseur was full of praise for the Dane and the team.

Magnussen finished tenth at the end of the toughest race of the season, finishing on the tail of the battle between Sergio Perez and Daniil Kvyat for eighth position, and the performance gained praise from the team principal.

Vasseur felt that the tenth place finish for the Dane proved that the work being done at Enstone by the team and Viry by the engine department is worthwhile, even if Jolyon Palmer endured a frustrating weekend in finishing fifteenth after a slow puncture.

“A strong and measured race from Kevin with some great strategy and exceptional pit stop work meant we scored for the second time this season,” said Vasseur. “Jolyon kept pushing despite a frustrating race for him with a slow puncture early on.

“We can see how everyone at Enstone and Viry, whether at the track or back at base, keeps on pushing and we will continue to do this no matter how difficult the challenge.”
