Haas F1 Team driver Romain Grosjean just missed out on a point finishing in eleventh place at the Italian Grand Prix, the Frenchman drove well at Monza challenging the McLaren’s but ultimately missed out on points

Grosjean finished behind Sahara Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg but felt that tenth place was just out of reach for the American team.

“I don’t think I could have gotten the 12 seconds needed to get to P10 in the end. That was about the maximum today. We just need to learn what we can do better for the next race.”

The Ferrari-powered Haas didn’t have the speed to challenge the teams in front, as the car lacked straight line speed to compete with the Mercedes powered cars.

Haas’s one stop tyre strategy looked risky but the French driver managed to fend off McLaren’s Jenson Button in the final stages.

“To be fair, I think we were just lacking a little bit of speed in the race to make the points. We tried a very aggressive one-stop strategy. I had a bit of graining on the softs in the first stint through those last few laps.”

The bright lights of Singapore await the Haas F1 team for the first time and Grosjean is looking forward to driving around such a mesmerising circuit.

“I’m now looking ahead to Singapore. It’s one of the best races of the season.”
