Scuderia Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost believes the team will fair better during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend following difficult outings at both Spa-Francorchamps and the Autodromo Nazionale Monza.

Using the 2015 Ferrari power unit, which is underpowered and underdeveloped compared to the 2016 engines of the other teams, Toro Rosso failed to score points in either race with Daniil Kvyat‘s fourteenth in Belgium the best result across the two weekends, but Tost knew the races in Belgium and Italy were always going to be difficult but believes better races for the team are to come.

“We knew from the beginning that Spa and Monza would be difficult for us because we have a one-year-old engine which was not developed,” said Tost to Motorsport.com. “And this was clear.

“This was a special situation, which we brought ourselves, and therefore we simply had to accept the consequences.

“We hope that in Singapore that we can show a better performance and we can come back to where we were before, with at least one car in Q3, and scoring points. After that Malaysia, Japan and America should be OK for us. Mexico and Brazil will become tricky, and Abu Dhabi should be better.”
