Tanner Foust and Steve Arpin take heat wins in Seattle

Tanner Foust and Steve Arpin won the opening heat races of Red Bull Global Rallycross Seattle.

Despite qualifying in third and fourth respectively, the Andretti and Ganassi drivers beat their respective team mates.

In heat 1A Foust got the jump at the start, leaping ahead of Olsbergs Honda‘s Joni Wiman and pole-sitter Brian Deegan.

However, the big drama in the first heat was a huge fire for Nelson Piquet Jr. A broken fuel line caused the inferno which which took him out of contention.

In the second heat, Arpin got ahead of reigning champion and points leader Scott Speed at the start, eventually leading home the ex-F1 driver and Sebastian Eriksson who took third on the final lap.

GRC Lites wins were split between qualifying pacesetters Conner Martell and Tanner Whitten with Martell triumphing in heat 1A which had to be stopped after a huge incident between Alejandro Fernandez and Jon Bennett; and Whitten winning the second heat.
