Juri Vips in the Prema Powerteam car took pole position ahead of the round at Vallelunga. The Italian F4 Championship rookie was over a tenth of a second ahead of team-mate Mick Schumacher.
Schumacher topped the first session, but it proved to be of little use as Vips beat his time second time out. The Estonian pitted before the end, but held on to the lead as his rival failed to close the gap. Vips eventually set a personal best of 1min 34.278.
Behind them, the Giuliano Raucci was best of the rest as he took third in the second and overall results. He managed fifth in FP1 but managed to improve as Kush Maini achieved one of his best grid positions, taking fourth.
As for championship leader Marcos Siebert he could only manage sixth behind Diego Bertonelli. Fortunately for him, his nearest rival in the championship; Raul Guzman, lines up behind him in seventh. Rounding out the top eight was Canadian Devlin DeFrancesco.
This weekend will also see ADM Motorsports enter the championship. The team with a history stretching back to 1988. Making the switch will be Mauro Aurrichio. The Brazilian who competed in ADAC Formula 4 this year has made the switch due to his ties with the country. He qualified seventeeth in the red flag interrupted session.
