Clio Cup Champions JamSport Next To Join Junior Ranks

1 Mins read

JamSport Racing, the team that guided Ant Whorton-Eales to the 2016 Renault UK Clio Cup, have announced plans to enter the Renault UK Clio Cup Junior series next year.

The Northampton squad have enjoyed a meteoric rise in the BTCC-supporting Clio Cup, having only debuted in the championship back in the second half of the 2014 season.

Expanding their line-up every since, JamSport ran no less than seven cars during the Brands Hatch season finale earlier this month, during which they won their first title with Whorton-Eales.

The team will now expand their Clio portfolio with an entry into the new Junior series for 14 to 17 year old drivers, with Whorton-Eales acting as driver coach.

JamSport have a strong track record in junior motorsport, having won the BRSCC Ford Fiesta Junior Championship for the past two seasons with Aaron Thompson and then Harry Gooding.

“We believe we will have a fantastic chance of challenging for the first UK Clio Cup Junior title, particularly with Ant Whorton-Eales acting as driver coach,” said team principal Jamie Going.

“He has, after all, won more races than anybody else in the latest generation car being used and his knowledge will be a huge plus point for our drivers.

“UK Clio Cup Junior is the logical step for us as it enables us to combine all our success in the Fiesta Juniors, working with and progressing young drivers and of course the massive win with Ant in the senior UK Clio Cup this year. It’s a perfect mould of the two.”
