Jack Fabby says he has exceeded all his expectations by winning the Road Series title in the 2016 Michelin Clio Cup Series at Silverstone this past weekend.
Fabby had been in a season-long duel with Nic Harrison for the class honours, with his adversary holding a nine point lead heading into the season finale.
The pendulum swung in the Jade Developments driver’s favour in the opening race at the ‘Home of British Motorsport’, with a class win being coupled by a late retirement for Harrison.
That meant with five drivers in the class, simply finishing the second race would secure the 17 year old the points he needed to win the title, but Fabby would go on to seal it in style with another victory.
The double win for the weekend means Fabby ends the season with seven race successes to his name and a run of thirteen podium finishes across the fifteen race season.
“I didn’t think I would be champion at the start of the season – it is quite unthinkable but very special at the same time,” said Fabby.
“Both me and Nic have been at each other throughout the year and we get on well. We can hold our heads high and look back on our battle with pride.
“Attention must now turn to next season and we will see where that takes us – having a championship title though is a nice way to head into the winter months.”
