Sahara Force India F1 Team are looking forward to experiencing the same incredible levels of passion from 2015 at this weekend’s Mexican Grand Prix.

Although the Silverstone-based outfit had an okay United States Grand Prix, it could have been better for the team as only Sergio Perez was able to see the chequered flag, with the race ending early for Nico Hulkenberg on turn one after sustaining suspension damage from an incident with Sebastian Vettel and Valtteri Bottas.

Heading into this weekend’s Grand Prix at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Force India are looking forward to the weekend. Team Principal Vijay Mallya hopes the team can experience the same incredible levels of passion from the fans that they experienced last year.

“We are really looking forward to the weekend in Mexico,” said Mallya. “A race that has already become a favourite for everyone in Formula One.

“Last year, the event felt like a huge celebration of our sport and we are looking forward to experiencing the same incredible levels of passion again. Off track, this is one of the most important races of our season. We have a large number of Mexican team partners and we are keen to get a special result in their home race.”

Mallya adds that his team need to focus on the job at hand so they are able to move one step closer to their objective of finishing fourth in the Constructors’ Championship. with the team fighting Williams Martini Racing for that position, with Force India currently only eight points ahead of the Grove based outfit.

“It will feel like having a home advantage,” added Mallya. “We hope to contribute to a very enjoyable race.

“On track, however, this is a race like any other: we need to focus on our job and do it right to move one step closer to our objective of finishing fourth in the championship. The characteristics of the track should suit us and I expect us to be fighting for points.”
