Latvala no longer in WRC title contention with fourth place in Corsica

1 Mins read

Jari-Matti Latvala is out of the 2016 FIA World Rally Championship running as he finished fourth in Corsica.

The Volkswagen driver had to drop no fewer than three points for the last four rallies to stay in contention for the 2016 WRC title.

Latvala struggled throughout the three days at the 2016 Tour de Corse – Rallye de France, but managed to finish behind his team-mate, third-placed Andreas Mikkelsen in fourth.

The Finn said “Unfortunately we didn’t manage to get any points from the Power Stage because I was a little bit too cautious in places.

“Overall we aren’t overly happy with our performance – but I only have myself to blame. In terms of set-up, we went in a direction that didn’t work. Now we are looking to the future, since we want to do much better at the Rally Spain and finish on the podium again there at least.

Last year we were involved in a thrilling battle for second place with our team-mate Andreas Mikkelsen, which we want to win this time.”
