Manor’s Dave Ryan: “These last three races have been pretty tough”

Dave Ryan admitted that the past three races in Singapore, Malaysia and Japan have been a struggle for the Manor Racing team, but was happy to leave Asia still sitting tenth in the Constructors’ Championship standings.

The Racing Director of the team saw Esteban Ocon and Pascal Wehrlein bring up the rear of the field at Suzuka on Sunday, but with the Sauber F1 Team still struggling to breach the points, Manor still sit tenth in the standings, thanks to Wehrlein’s point in the Austrian Grand Prix in July.

“On the face of it, not a race to particularly write home about, but we do leave the Far East with another two-car finish, having maintained our position in the championship,” said Ryan.

“These last three races have been pretty tough, but we head home from Japan looking forward to the final four events of the season, starting in Austin in two weeks’ time.”

Ryan took time to congratulate engine suppliers Mercedes for gaining their third consecutive Constructors’ Championship title in Japan, with Nico Rosberg’s win and Lewis Hamilton’s third place doing enough to ensure the crown returns to the team this season on the back of their titles in 2014 and 2015.

“Congratulations to our powertrain partner, Mercedes-Benz, on securing the triple – a very impressive performance,” finished Ryan.
