Maurin aiming for podium finish at Rally Catalunya

1 Mins read

Julien Maurin is ready to tackle the mixed surface stages of the 2016 Rally Catalunya – Rally de España

The Frenchman, who finished the previous rally at the Tour de Corse in Corsica in fourth in the WRC2 category, over 30 seconds from a potential third-place finish in his Škoda Fabia R5, which Yoann Bonato finished in that position.

Maurin will be joined by co-driver Valentin Sarreaud in Salou for the first time ever as a pairing in Salou.

Maurin said “I know the context, the general environment of the rally, but there are many changes to the programme.

“Some special stages have evolved, others have returned, as well as new stages. It does not bother me. Last year we were unlucky but we had been performing well. In Corsica, on asphalt, we finished the rally on a high note.

“We would like to finish on the podium. It’s important for me to reward the team with a good result. I am also aware that the level of WRC2 is very high and it will be perfect at all levels to be among the best. We will work in this direction.”
