DMACK aims to finish Rally Australia on a high

1 Mins read
Fresh from its second place in Wales, the DMACK World Rally Team is hoping to stay on top down under in Rally Australia.

The DMACK World Rally Team is aiming to repeat its stunning Wales Rally GB performance result at the 2016 Rally Australia.

After a superb second place in Wales, Estonia’s Ott Tänak is aiming to stay on top Down Under as the team hopes to end the 2016 World Rally Championship season on a high.

Since the introduction of their new British-built DMACK gravel tyres, Tänak has scored fastest times on every gravel rally this season – from the hot, abrasive roads in Sardinia to the muddy Welsh forests.

As a result, the 2016 season is DMACK’s most successful season in the WRC with podiums in Poland and Wales.

A good result down under would be the perfect end to the season and, with mixed road conditions in Australia, they will be chasing more top times in their Ford Fiesta RS WRC.

The surfaces are a varied mix between fast, flowing stages across the open countryside are often coated with loose gravel and narrow roads through soft, secluded stages in the jungle.

The loose gravel stages may provide an advantage to Tänak who is running further down the order.

“Rally Australia is a special event and one that I really like,” he said.

“It’s a real mix of conditions and a proper challenge. The wide, hard roads are fast and flowing – really enjoyable to drive on. Then in the forests it’s really tricky and you have to be careful, especially with the changes in shade and light.

“I’m looking forward to it.”

Dick Cormack, DMACK Managing Director said “It would be great to finish our most successful season with another strong performance on gravel.

“Both our hard and soft compound tyres have taken fastest times this year and the aim is to continue that performance.

“The fast stages and road position should suit Ott so we’re looking forward to a positive result.”
