Ferdinand Habsburg had a strong EuroFormula Open weekend at the Circuit de Catalunya, with the Austrian taking his second victory of the season on Saturday, as well as a runners-up spot in race two on Sunday.
The Drivex School driver finished second on the road on Saturday, but took victory when Dorian Boccolacci was handed a post-race time penalty for punting Colton Herta into a spin, but it was nothing more than the Austrian deserved after a strong season in EuroFormula Open.
Despite taking pole position for race two, Habsburg saw Herta draw ahead at the start, and although he was glued to the gearbox of the Carlin driver throughout the race, was forced to settle for second, while also confirming himself as runner-up in the standings behind Leonardo Pulcini.
“It feels amazing to finish the year on a high with a win, our first since Paul Ricard,” said Habsburg. “We were really strong all weekend, so a big thanks to the Drive-X boys for all their hard work this season.”
Habsburg now turns his attention to the Macau Grand Prix later this month when he rejoins the Fortec Motorsports team that he raced with in Formula Renault 2.0, and is ready for the challenge ahead.
“I’m feeling really good ahead of Macau – I can’t wait to get out there and get started!” insisted Habsburg.
