Briton Ricky Collard and Swede Jimmy Eriksson have been given the opportunity to run in the BMW M4 DTM as part of the DTM Series Young Driver Test that is to happen at Jerez.
The test will run from 29 November to 2 December.
As part of his training for this twenty year old Collard has been in action in the BMW M235i Racing at the Nurburgring-Nordschleife whilst Eriksson has previous experience in the BMW M4 due to taking to track in it at several DTM race weekends for the fan taxi rides.
Eighteen year old Eriksson contested this rookie season of the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in 2016, in which he was turning heads from the start. At the culmination of the championship the young Swede had claimed fifth place in the overall standings and was named “Rookie of the Year”. Additionally in August he won the prestigious “Zandvoort Masters of Formula 3”.
Briton Collard was in action in the British Formula 3 Championship for his 2016 campaign and had great success. Up until the season finale at Donington Collard was challenging for the title but ultimately ended up second in the overall standings.
Audi and Mercedes are yet to reveal what their line ups will be for the upcoming rookie test.
Additionally, all three manufacturers will continue to develop their 2017 machines in a four day test this week at Portimao which follows on from last month’s test at Oschersleben.
