Sergio Perez finished sixth fastest in the opening free practice session of the weekend in Abu Dhabi and eighth in the second session, and feels he is around where he expected to be before the weekend began.

The Sahara Force India F1 Team driver feels positive that the set-up of his VJM09 is already looking good for the rest of the weekend, but knows there is still work to be done to ensure the team continue to show competitiveness at the Yas Marina Circuit, especially as the team continue to be involved in their battle with Williams Martini Racing for fourth place in the Constructors’ Championship.

“It was a positive day for us,” admitted Perez. “We managed to complete a big programme and we have plenty of information to analyse tonight.

“Looking at the times, I don’t see any big surprises: we are where we expected to be before the weekend started and we’ve done some good race preparation.

“The track evolved a lot between the sessions, especially with the temperature drop between FP1 and FP2, but I think we’re nearly there in terms of set-up. I think we have done a good job and I am really looking forward to tomorrow.”
