Scuderia Toro Rosso drivers Daniil Kvyat and Carlos Sainz Jnr are looking forward to the Brazilian Grand Prix this weekend, as it is a race that they both really enjoy.
There are a number of plus points to being in Sao Paulo, and the boys both agree that the meat, the hot girls and the passionate fans all make the Brazil race weekend an interesting one to take part in.
Sainz Jnr is a big fan of the countries people, and the passion they show the whole F1 paddock.
“Another thing I like about the country is its people, they are very passionate! The fans that attend the race really live it intensely, make a lot of noise and have a lot of fun!”
And team-mate Kvyat agrees, also adding that the music being played by the crowds is very enjoyable. The Russian also loves the set-up and numerous characteristics that make up the Autódromo José Carlos Pace.
“You very often get to hear the samba music coming from the grandstands, it’s nice!
“What I also like is the circuit layout – it’s an anti-clockwise one…”
There are only five circuits on the F1 calendar that run in an ant-clockwise direction, which means good neck training is crucial prior to this event, in to allow the body to get used to the less usual strains inflicted upon it.
In that respect Kvyat confirms he is ready to take on Interlagos, a circuit he feels has a number of great sections to navigate.
“So, the track is quite short but its good fun and interesting to drive. The most exciting parts are the first three turns – the Senna S – and I also enjoy turns 6, 7 and 8.”
Sainz Jnr is also a fan of the fast, flowing nature of the track, and also appreciates the nostalgia that the Brazilian Grand Prix is steeped in.
“It also has a lot of history, it’s a track where many World Champions have been crowned and where there’s been some very good racing in the past.
“Another thing I like about it is the small paddock – it’s friendly and cosy!
“For example, when you’re having breakfast outside during the race weekend, you see and talk to many more people than usual – other team members, drivers, media, fans… – and it’s very different to other tracks where the space is too big to see anyone.”
The weather is another intriguing factor that can be added into the equation in Sao Paolo and both Toro Rosso drivers are hoping the rain will make an appearance this year, to spice things up!
Sainz Jnr feels some inclement weather would definitely be a good thing this weekend,
“It hasn’t rained in the last couple of years… We need some rain this time!”
Whilst Kvyat is ready to take things into his own hands if the downpours do not arrive!
“The weather can be very interesting! Rain, please come! Let’s do a rain dance!”
It was a disappointing race for the Faenza based squad last time out in Mexico, with both drivers only able to finish in sixteenth and eighteenth place and well out of the points.
The Dietrich Mateschitz owned team will be hoping for a much stronger outing in Brazil this weekend, and a splash of rain would not go amiss for improving their prospects.
