TBL BTCC Licence Allocation Confirmed By TOCA For 2017 Season

1 Mins read

Allocation of the 32 TOCA Licences has been revealed for the 2017 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship season, with known outfits missing from the list in question.

The allocation does not include Team BKR, who last year made their BTCC debut with a pair of Volkswagen CCs and secured a maiden triumph at Rockingham thanks to Irishman, Aron Smith.

Welch Motorsport are also not included although Dan Welch‘s outfit have retained its TBL, loaned instead to Motorbase Performance as the Ford team expands to a three-car programme for 2017.

BTCC series director Alan Gow also revealed amendments to the TOCA BTCC Licence (TBL) rules for 2017, which will now prevent teams from switching licences to other parties after the November 30 deadline. BKR, Maximum Motorsport, and Team HARD all secured licences after last year’s deadline, only the former absent on this occasion.

BKR’s TBLs therefore return to TOCA, while AmDTuning.com also expand their outfit to a two-car attack. BTC Racing make a return to the series with two licences, now running under the BTC Norlin Racing banner.

The latter have reportedly acquired the machinery and brace of TBLs of Power Maxed Racing, who begin their latest Vauxhall Astra project with the help of TOCA’s two available licenses on loan.

A final notable change sees former Speedworks Motorsport driver Matt Simpson earn his own licence as part of a deal to join Team Dynamics, while the remainder of the allocated list is unchanged from the previous campaign.

The official entry list will be revealed in March.
