Patrik Sandell has said that moving to Subaru is a “dream coming true”.

The Swede was announced as a driver for Subaru Rally Team USA‘s 2017 Red Bull Global Rallycross campaign alongside Chris Atkinson.

“To finally be a part of the Subaru family is a childhood dream coming true,” said Sandell. “I was watching Subaru cars rallying all over the world as a kid, and I am now very proud to be in those same shoes.”

“Subaru have been able to create a unique passion around its’ brand and cars that I really like, as I am so passionate about both rally and rallycross myself,” he added. “I am really looking forward to meeting all the Subaru fans out there that share my passion for the sport. It feels like this is where I belong.”

Sandell has raced in Red Bull GRC since 2013, spending two years with Olsbergs before switching to an M-Sport Ford Fiesta with Bryan Herta Rallysport in 2015.

The former Junior World Rally champion took a career best finish of fifth in the 2016 Red Bull GRC season.
