Lanan Racing, the team that guided Jake Hughes and George Russell to the BRDC British Formula 4 title have announced their first driver to their 2017 BRDC British F3 Championship campaign. 16-year-old Aaron di Comberti will make the step up to Formula 3 after a year racing abroad.
The Scottish born racer made one-off appearances in 2016 racing in the French F4 Championship as well as the FIA-backed Italian F4 Championship.
With only two race weekends to his name, it will be hard to judge the potential performance of Lanan’s new signing, though failed to score any points in the two F4 meetings he competed in.
Di Comberti said; “I have been training hard over the winter to ensure I make the best possible use of the testing ahead of the first race of the championship at Oulton Park. I’m really looking forward to the year ahead and I can’t wait to get started.”
Meanwhile, Graham Johnson, Team Principal of Lanan Racing, commented: “Aaron started testing with us late last year and was very impressive given his lack of experience. I’m looking forward to seeing him progress his way up the grid.”
The first round of the BRDC British F3 season takes place at Oulton Park on 15-17 April, so far seven other drivers have been announced.
