Kevin Magnussen completed a day high 118 laps of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya on day two of pre-season testing, finishing the day with the fourth fastest time overall.

The Dane remained in the Haas F1 Team’s VF-17 for a second day of testing and continued to show good pace, setting a best time of 1:22.204 on the Supersoft Pirelli tyre to finish behind only Kimi Raikkonen, Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen in the standings, although times mean very little at this stage of the season.

Magnussen will now hand the car over to team-mate Romain Grosjean for the final two days of the first test, and revealed that it was a good day all round on Tuesday, having broken the record for the number of laps a Haas car had done in a single day at the Catalan track by 13 laps.

“A good day. I got the most laps of anyone, so that’s sums up our day pretty well, with lots of running,” said Magnussen. “That’s what it’s all about here at winter testing.

“We want to put as many miles on the car as possible, to find all of these little problems that can creep up during the season, to catch them as early as possible.

“I’m very happy with the feeling I have in the car and in working with the team. It’s been good to get back in a car again.”
