Callum Ilott continued where he left off on Tuesday as he topped the second day of the pre-season test at the Red Bull Ring on Wednesday, again leading a Prema Powerteam 1-2 ahead of team-mate Maximilian Günther.
Ilott was the only driver to drop below the 1 minute 23 second barrier on either day, with the Briton setting a time of 1:22.950 to pace the field, although just 0.858 seconds separated him from Keyvan Andres Soori of Motopark, who placed nineteenth and last.
Günther was only 0.136 seconds back in second, while Jake Hughes had a much better day for Hitech Grand Prix, setting the third best time of the day with a 1:23.096 after being well outside the top ten on day one.
Joel Eriksson and Harrison Newey made it four different teams inside the top five for Motopark and Van Amersfoort Racing, with the latter seeing David Beckmann finish the day in sixth, his best time just 0.180 seconds behind Ilott’s and 0.012 seconds behind Newey.
Tadasuke Makino finished the day seventh fastest for Hitech Grand Prix ahead of Guan Yu Zhou of Prema Powerteam, while Van Amersfoort Racing duo Joey Mawson and Pedro Piquet completed the top ten.
Lando Norris was the leading Carlin entrant in twelfth, just behind Nikita Mazepin, while Mick Schumacher was fifteenth in the fourth Prema entry.
The championship will now get underway at Silverstone on 14-16 April 2017.
