Goff Pips Hill In Tight Second BTCC Practice At Donington

1 Mins read

A mere 0.007s separated pace-setter Jack Goff from Jake Hill in the second Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship free practice session of the day at Donington Park.

Second in the opening practice outing of the day, Eurotech Racing‘s Goff went one better in the second 40-minute session with a time of 1m09.876s during the final 10 minutes of action.

The time was good enough for the Honda Civic driver to pip team HARD‘s Hill by a narrow seven thousandths of a second, the latter having ended first practice third in the Volkswagen CC.

Running in the Swindon-engined Civic Type-R, Goff’s effort was also just 0.015s quicker than third-placed Tom Ingram and 0.040s faster than the works Halfords Yuasa Racing Civic of triple BTCC champion, Matt Neal.

In a tight session that saw just 1.037s separate the top 25 drivers, Handy Motorsport‘s Rob Austin was fifth overall ahead of Michael Epps who once again ensured that Team HARD had two Volkswagen CCs inside the top six.

Reigning champion Gordon Shedden was next up in the second of the Team Dynamics Hondas, Chris Smiley again making it into the top 10 in the BTC Chevrolet.

Aiden Moffat‘s Mercedes A-Class and Ollie Jackson’s AmD Tuning Audi S3 completed the top 10, Team BMW‘s best effort coming from Colin Turkington in 15th while team-mates Andrew Jordan and Rob Collard claimed 16th and 17th.

James Cole was fastest of the four Team BMR Subarus in 19th, double champion Jason Plato down in 25th while Ashley Sutton could only muster 29th position.
