Double R Racing team principal, Anthony “Boyo” Hieatt reflected on a developing weekend for the team that collected another podium at the hands of Swedish driver Linus Lundqvist.

The defending Formula STCC champion was once again amongst the front runners during a weekend that only featured two races, due to ongoing barrier repairs. Lundqvist continued his run of finishing every race within the top five, while teammate Karl Massaad‘s results did not match his qualifying pace.

The Lebanese driver had lined up sixth, one place behind Lundqvist for race one, but fell backwards during the damp encounter, only to retire in race two.

“We’re pleased to see Linus back on the podium, taking fastest lap in race one proves the pace we’ve got, and fantastic Daniel was able to break into the points again”, said Hieatt.

“Obviously, we’re disappointed for Karl with the retirement from race two, especially after a strong start on Saturday, but we’re confident all three guys will be competitive at Croft.”

On Tuesday, the F4 British Championship teams headed to Croft for pre-weekend testing. Double R would come out on top with a 1min 21.401 at the hands of Massaad.

The afternoon would continue to show strong pace from the team, with Lundqvist setting the quickest lap of the session, six hundredths of a second behind Massaad. Oliver York would be third quickest with a 1min 21.589.

Croft testing continues today.
