Sahara Force India F1 Team Deputy Team Principal Bob Fernley hailed the 2017 Spanish Grand Prix as “a fantastic result for everybody” at the Silverstone based squad.

Drivers Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon took the chequered flag in fourth and fifth place respectively, securing Force India’s best result of the season so far and keeping their record of scoring points at every race, very much alive.

Fernley praised the efforts of everyone in the team for making the achievement possible, and the drivers for bringing home a result that has allowed them to go twenty-two points clear of Scuderia Toro Rosso in the constructor’s standings, tightening their grip on an outright fourth place.

The 22 points scored strengthens our hold on fourth place in the championship and continues our 100% points-scoring record in every race this season. We are now the only team to have achieved this and that is a huge credit to the hard work of the race team and factory.

“It was a fairly routine race from our perspective with mature drives from Sergio and Esteban. They kept their noses clean and managed their pace to bring home our best result of the year so far.”

Having two drivers that can perform consistently throughout the year, will allow Force India to remain on top of their game, and progress further forward as the year goes on, and it is this strength that Fernley believes will see them achieve great things this season.

“This consistency is a real strength of the team and we can feel very satisfied with our performance over the first quarter of the season.”
