Robert Visoiu will make his racing return this weekend at Monaco after being signed to drive the second Campos Racing entry for the remainder of the 2017 FIA Formula 2 Championship alongside Ralph Boschung.
The Romanian will step into the car that was raced by Stefano Coletti in Bahrain and Roberto Merhi last time out in Spain, and it marks his return to the category formerly known as the GP2 Series, in which he raced for the Rapax outfit back in 2015.
“I am very happy to have the opportunity to join Campos Racing for the rest of the 2017 season!” insisted Visoiu. “I have missed the competition immensely and I will do my best to get up to speed quickly.
“I need to thank Adrian Campos for his trust and guidance, which are essential to me. I am sure we can achieve great things together.”
Team Principal Adrian Campos had been looking to get some stability into the driver line-up after switching his drivers in the opening two events, and he feels that Visoiu is a great signing alongside Swiss racer Boschung.
“I have followed his career closely over the years, particularly in the GP2 Series,” said Campos. “He is an extremely talented young driver and if we all put in the top effort and hard work, we will get the most out of his driving skills.”
