Sponsor Split Forces McKenna To Miss Thruxton Weekend

Scott McKenna will miss this weekend’s Ginetta Junior Championship action at Thruxton after splitting with his headline sponsor.

An impressive start to his maiden Junior campaign had seen McKenna take two outright fourth place finishes and a maiden Rookie victory last time out at Donington Park.

McKenna backed that up by superbly topping the timesheets by over four tenths of a second during the official test at Thruxton last month in his HHC Motorsport Ginetta G40.

The 15 year old won’t be able to try and convert that pace into positive results this weekend though, after seeing headline sponsor Elite Prototype pull out with immediate effect.

McKenna will switch to a part-campaign for this season, though it’s not confirmed which rounds he will contest, as he works towards a full campaign in 2018.

“Scott has made a fantastic start to his motorsport career, and has already proved he has the fundamental talent to compete with the best at the front of the Ginetta Junior grid,” said HHC’s Charlie Kemp.

“As such, it’s a massive shame at this critical time two rounds into the season, and just as he has started showing his true potential, that Scott’s main sponsor has pulled out.

“We at HHC will continue to work with Scott, developing him on what limited budget he has, so he can compete in selected rounds in the remainder of 2017, and assist in finding suitable backing for a 2018 assault.”
