AmD Tuning are looking for an upturn in form following a disappointing start to the year, and despite having failed to crack the Top 10 in 2017 thus far, Ollie Jackson believes the next round of the British Touring Car Championship at Croft will see their luck change.
While Jackson has scored three times this year, none of those finishes were for higher than 14th place. However, the Tamworth-based driver pointed to improvements with the team’s Audi S3, which didn’t get a proper chance of making a big difference last time out at Oulton Park.
“I think we head to Croft in the best position we’ve been in yet with the Audi,” he said. “We made a lot of changes to the car last time out at Oulton Park that were reflected in the pace we showed there.”
“Croft is a circuit that should suit the car and there is no reason why we can’t be right in the mix for strong points going into the summer break. The points at the moment aren’t really a fair reflection of where we stand, as we haven’t had that one single result that some of the others have had.”
AmD team principal Shaun Hollamby echoed Jackson’s sentiments, suggesting that Croft would be better suited to exploiting the stronger points of the S3 than Oulton Park.
“We expect the Audi to go well at Croft with it’s mix of high-speed and low-speed corners,” he explained. “The pace we showed at Oulton Park was very encouraging, and we have to look to build on that when we get to Croft.”
“Although that race pace was strong, we know we still have work to do in qualifying which is something we will focus on when we hit the track.”
