Silverstone plays host to round six of the 2017 British GT Championship, with Jack Mitchell and James Littlejohn starting the three-hour Silverstone 500 event on pole in the #24 Macmillan AMR Aston Martin Vantage.

In GT4, championship leaders Stuart Middleton and Will Tregurtha in the #55 HHC Motorsport Ginetta G55 head the category.

However, the Stratton Motorsport, non-championship eligible invitational Lotus Evora entry of Stuart Hall and Gavan Kershaw begin at the front of the GT4 field with the fastest overall time from the GT4 qualifying session.

Hello and welcome to round six of the 2017 British GT Championship – the blue riband, three-hour Silverstone 500 event!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:27

The race gets underway at 13:35PM UK time, and continues over the course of the following three hours in the annual marathon GT event.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:32

Here’s the top three as they start in the GT3 class:

1st – #24 Macmillan AMR Aston Martin Vantage – Jack Mitchell and James Littlejohn.

2nd – #31 Team Parker Racing Bentley Continental – Rick Parfitt and Seb Morris.

3rd – #21 Spirit of Race SA Ferrari 488 – Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:34

And the GT4 lineup is as follows:

1st – #55 HHC Motorsport Ginetta G55 – Stuart Middleton and Will Tregurtha.

2nd – #100 Black Bull Garage 59 McLaren 570s – Ciaran Haggerty and Sandy Mitchell.

3rd – #42 Macmillan AMR Aston Martin Vantage GT4 – William Phillips and Jan Jonck.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:34

Drivers have begun the warmup lap, and the race will be underway in a matter of moments.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:35

The GT4 lineup negates the invitational entries of Stratton Motorsport and GPRM, whose Lotus and Toyota entries respectively will be starting 1st and 4th on the road in GT4.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:36

The race is underway – the #31 Bentley of Rick Parfitt battles his way into the GT3 lead through Copse corner!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:37

Parfitt blazes away at the front of the field heading onto the second lap, with Jack Mitchell falling into the clutches of third-placed Duncan Cameron in the Spirit of Race Ferrari.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:40

In GT4, the two invational entries are away at the front – which lessens the complication in regards to the lead battle between all the championship-eligible cars.

GT4 Championship leader Will Tregurtha has had a terrible start – he’s been bumped down to third overall, with Haggerty and Phillips clambering above the HHC Motorsport Ginetta.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:41

Parfitt’s gap at the front in the Team Parker Racing Bentley is up to 2.5 seconds, as GT3 championship leader Jon Minshaw muscles his way into third place past Richard Neary in the #88 ABBA with Rollcentre Racing Mercedes.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:43

Tregurtha is in trouble! Having started 1st in GT4, he dropped two positions on the opening lap and is now off in the gravel! Not clear as of yet whether he’s continued on or retired

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:45

More drama in the opening exchanges – Neary has spun the #88 Mercedes from fourth at Village corner. He was facing extreme pressure from Ian Loggie in the #7 Team Parker Racing Bentley.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:45

More drama in the opening exchanges – Neary has spun the #88 Mercedes from fourth at Village corner. He was facing extreme pressure from Ian Loggie in the #7 Team Parker Racing Bentley.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:48

Change in the GT4 lead – Phillips has elevated his Macmillan Aston Martin ahead of Haggerty, with the latter now dropping behind both Kelvin Fletcher and Adam Balon and off the provisional GT4 podium!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:50

After Neary’s spin, Loggie is up to fourth and is hounding the back of Minshaw’s Barwell Motorsport Lamborghini Huracan – the Bentley driver vigourously flashing his lights at Minshaw down the Hangar straight!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:51

The lead gap in GT3 after the first 15 minutes is 7.1 seconds as Parfitt continues to gradually pull away from Mitchell in second. The recovering Neary is up to 8th after his wild excursion!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:55

Former BTCC battler Fletcher is now only two seconds off Phillips in the overall GT4 lead. Fletcher will be hoping to keep the gap close at the front before handing over to Pro class partner Struan Moore later on – who in turn will hand over to third driver Tim Eakin at some point!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:56

Into the top five in GT3 goes Mark Farmer in the #11 TF Sport Aston Martin – he’s ahead of Duncan Cameron’s Ferrari 488 now who’s dropped to 6th from 3rd.

Farmer’s now right on the back of the Minshaw-Loggie battle for third. Things are heating up and we’re still only in the opening minutes!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201713:59

A sublime overtake from Loggie finally sees the #7 Bentley ahead of Jon Minshaw, releasing Loggie and dropping Minshaw back towards the baying Farmer and Cameron just behind.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:02

Mitchell has whittled the lead gap down to five seconds now – can he cut it even more before handing over to Silver partner James Littlejohn?

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:05

Tregurtha is out in GT4 – a big blow for his title lead and a great chance for his challengers in the championship to close the points gap!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:07

Already a lap down to the leaders in GT4, the Century Motorsport Ginetta of Steve Fresle was stopped for a while after a spin, but has kept going.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:10

The first scheduled stop of the race sees reigning GT3 champion Jonny Adam taking over from Derek Johnston, who is stopped for 20 seconds to serve his mandatory success penalty after winning last time out at Snetterton.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:14

The Adam and Johnston pairing were at the back of the GT3 field before coming in the pits, with the replay showing Johnston spinning on lap two – having to agonisingly wait until the entire GT4 field had passed before getting underway again.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:16

Seb Morris takes over from race-leading Rick Parfitt in the Bentley, with Mitchell due in anytime now.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:18

Wheelguns are sounding up and down the pitlane as a number of drivers in both classes head for their first stop and driver change!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:23

Adam Christodoulou is in the ABBA Racing Mercedes – it’s his British GT debut, but he’s had a drama straightaway, going onto the grass heading onto the hangar straight whilst trying to overtake the UltraTek Racing Nissan 370z of Richard Taffinder.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:24

For his part in the incident, Taffinder’s #53 Team Manager has been called to race control.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:27

7th placed Seb Morris has set a new fastest lap of the race – a 2:02:895 – he’s out of sequence as the first car on the road to have made a pitstop.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:29

The GT4 leader is in, as Will Phillips hands over to partner Jan Jonck in the Macmillan Aston.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:33

The first penalty of the day has been handed out – the #53 GT4 Nissan of Taffinder and Martin Plowman has been awarded a drive through penalty, with Taffinder adjudged to have unfairly blocked Adam Christodoulou’s GT3 Mercedes by Race Control.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:35

Race leader Jack Mitchell is in the pits and will hand over to James Littlejohn, which will provisionally hand the lead to Jon Minshaw in the Lamborghini who has yet to stop.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:37

Another penalty – this time in GT3 – as the #7 Team Parker Racing Bentley of Ian Loggie and Callum Macleod has been awarded a stop-go penalty for a short pitstop. Macleod is coming down the pitlane now to serve it.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:39

There’ll be an update of the top three in the standings for both classes when all the pitstops have cycled through. For now, Seb Morris is the first of the GT3 cars to stop on the road – fourth overall.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:40

Yet to pit are Jon Minshaw, Duncan Cameron and Liam Griffin who all currently take up the top three spots in GT3.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:44

An update of the invitational runners – Gavan Kershaw in the #99 Lotus Evora has replaced Stuart Hall, and is currently 14th overall. The second invitational outfit is the GPRM Toyota GT86 of Stefan Hodgetts – he’s down in 23rd overall.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:46

The only major on track battle in GT3 at the moment is for fifth, with Callum Macleod right on the back of Christodoulou’s Mercedes.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:48

Both Minshaw and Cameron – the last two GT3 cars not to pit – are in, which hands the lead overall back to Morris’ Bentley.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:50

The only car in the entire field yet to pit is also in, with the #111 Century Motorsport Ginetta of Anna Walewska handing over to Mike Simpson, seeing the lead in GT4 go back to Jan Jonck’s Macmillan Aston.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:53

With everyone completing one stop, here’s a top three update, with the emboldened name highlighting the driver currently in the car:

In GT3,

1st – #31 Team Parker Racing Bentley – Seb Morris and Rick Parfitt

2nd – #24 Macmillan AMR Aston Martin Vantage – James Littlejohn and Jack Mitchell

3rd – #88 Team ABBA with Rollcentre Racing Mercedes-AMG – Adam Christodoulou and Richard Neary.

Connor Jackson June 11, 201714:56

A bad lap for Jan Jonck has seen the #42 Macmillan AMR drop three places on that circuit

Seb Gigner June 11, 201714:58

In GT4,

1st – #72 Track-Club McLaren 570s – Adam Mackay and Adam Balon.

3rd – #62 Academy Motorsport Aston Martin – Matt Nicoll-Jones and Will Moore.

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:01

GT4 is getting physical, with the #72 Track-Club and the Macmillan AMR touching through Brooklands

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:03

Second place in GT4 is up fro grabs as a lapping GT3 has meant MacKay in the Track-Club is forced to hold off the #62 Academy Motorsport

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:05

Back in GT3, Morris in the #31 TPR Bentley had stretched his lead to 43 seconds as he pits

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:07

The Invitational car of Kershaw in the #99 Lotus Evora has pitted, he was 35 seconds ahead of the GT4 leader

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:08

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:15

Front left puncture for Struan Moore has put the #54 UltraTek Racing. The car pits

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:17

The GT4 leader – #62 Academy Motorsport – has pitted, Jan Jonck will take the lead as a result

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:21

Further down the GT3 field, Tordoff is pressuring Robertson for second and finally made his way past after light contact in the final corner.

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:22

Further down the GT3 field, Tordoff is pressuring Short for second and finally made his way past after light contact in the final corner.

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:24

Jonck has now pitted, handing the #42 MacMillan AMR over to William Phillips

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:26

The #19 Century Motorsport Team Manager has been called to Race Control, likely for the contact with Tordoff

Connor Jackson June 11, 201715:27

The #7 Team Parker Racing has pitted from second in GT3

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:29

A second-driver change sees me replacing Connor with liveblog coverage for the final hour of this hotly-contested Silverstone 500!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:29

James Littlejohn retains the overall lead in the Macmillan Aston Martin, however Rick Parfitt is the first in GT3 to have made two pitstops – he’s in 6th overall.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:33

The gap at the front between Littlejohn and Matt Griffin’s Ferrari is 20 seconds, with Phil Keen a further 11 seconds back of Griffin in third.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:37

The race-leading Aston Martin of Littlejohn is in the pits for a second stop, which will see Griffin inherit the GT3 lead provisionally.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:42

Drama for Rick Parfitt! The #31 Bentley driver and first on the road to make two stops clatters into the side of the #11 TF Sport Aston Martin of Mark Farmer through Stowe corner! Farmer spins but continues, Parfitt continues on seemingly unscathed.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:45

Another penalty has been handed out – the #19 Century Motorsport Ginetta G55 GT3 of Aleksander Schjerpen and Charlie Roberston will serve a five-second stop-go penalty for a short pit-stop.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:45

The #11 TF Sport Aston Martin team manager has been summoned to race control following Farmer’s collision with Parfitt a couple of laps ago.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:48

Off at Copse corner is the #7 Team Parker Racing Bentley Continental GT3 of Ian Loggie, crashing out of 6th overall. There’s heavy damage to the rear of the Bentley which has seemingly made heavy contact backwards into the barrier. Loggie walks away unharmed.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:52

Rick Parfitt is in the pits, switching with Seb Morris to complete the third and final pitstop for the #31 Bentley.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:54

Each car must make three mandatory pitstops, with both the two Barwell Motorsport Lamborghinis of Phil Keen and Sam Tordoff having only made one with 40 minutes to go!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:55

In GT4, the leading car is currently the #62 Academy Motorsport Aston Martin of Will Moore, followed by William Phillips’ Macmillan Aston.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201715:57

Tordoff in the #6 Lamborghini is in for his second pitstop – he still has another to make in the remaining 38 minutes.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201716:00

Finally peeling down the pitlane for his penultimate pitstop is Phil Keen, set to be replaced by Jon Minshaw – which sees Jack Mitchell inherit the race lead, with the Macmillan Aston still needing to stop again.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201716:06

A crucial penalty has been awarded in GT4, the second-placed #100 Black Bul Garage 59 McLaren 570s will have to serve a drive-through penalty for breaching track limits under yellow flags.

And the #56 Tolman Motorsport McLaren 570s of David Pattison and Joe Osborne has received the same penalty – their car is being piloted currently by Osborne, 13th in GT4.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201716:07

A high-speed spin for the #30 AMDTuning.com Mercedes of Ryan Ratcliffe coming onto the Grand Prix straight – but Ratcliffe avoids oncoming cars and rejoins 9th overall.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201716:08

Just after receiving a peantly, the #56 of Osborne has slowed on the circuit with a right-front puncture, compounding a difficult day for the Tolman team.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201716:10

Mitchell and Minshaw – the top two on the road – head into the pits for their third and final stops. Liam Griffin now reclaims the race lead as the final car GT3 car not yet to make a third stop.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201716:11

Morris immediately swoops ahead of Griffin despite making a pitstop more to finally reclaim the overall lead on the road for the #31 Bentley!

Seb Gigner June 11, 201716:13

Griffin is now in for his final stop from second on the road in GT3, which should see him drop quite a few places down the order heading into the final 22 minutes.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201716:16

The three-driver crew in the #88 Team ABBA Mercedes have been awarded a stop-go penalty for a short pit-stop, with current driver Adam Christodoulou in danger of losing fifth overall in GT3.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201716:18

Morris’ lead in the GT3 lead is 54 seconds over James Littlejohn’s Macmillan Aston Martin – the Bentley driver alongside Rick Parfitt looks set to claim his second win of the season provided he avoids disaster in the final 16 minutes.

Seb Gigner June 11, 201716:23

Once the GT4 pit-stops cycle through, the lead battle should be between the #72 Track-Club McLaren of Adam Mackay and the #62 Academy Motorsport Aston Martin of Matt Nicoll-Jones, who are separated by only 11.6 seconds heading into the waning moments.

Connor Jackson June 11, 201716:27

With 12 min to go, attention turns to MacKay, who although is leading GT4, is only 1.5 seconds behind the Invitational Lotus Evora

Connor Jackson June 11, 201716:29

Meanwhile, the #29 In2Racing is catching the #62 Academy Motorsport for second in GT4
