ART Grand Prix driver Jack Aitken has taken his second GP2 Series pole position of the season at the Hungaroring.

The Briton got his lap in prior to a red flag being brought out two minutes before the end of the session which prompted the decision for it to not be restarted.

Team-mates George Russell and Nirei Fukuzumi completed the top three.

When the session got underway all the drivers headed straight out on track, with the warm conditions meaning times were quickly tumbling.

Aitken set the first representative time of the session but it soon became a battle of the ART’s as Aitken, Fukuzumi, Anthoine Hubert, and Russell vied for the top spot.

Aitken had returned to the head of the field when Arjun Maini pulled over at Turn 1, bringing out the yellow flags before managing to get going again only to grind to a halt at the final corner bringing the red flags out with two minutes remaining in the session.

As a result the decision was made to end the session early, meaning Aitken will start on pole followed by: Russell, Fukuzumi, Dorian Boccolacci, Hubert, Giuliano AlesiNiko KariKevin JörgAlessio Lorandi and Tatiana Calderon.

The Feature Race gets underway at 17:35 local time.
