Shuhei Nakamoto joins Dorna as special advisor

Shuhei Nakamoto has joined Dorna Sports as special advisor. The former HRC Vice President has joined the team in a role within the management and organisation of the company’s Talent Promotion department with Alberto Puig. Together, they will look after the Asia Talent CupBritish Talent Cup and European Talent Cup, with Nakamoto also supporting Asian riders, passing down his wealth of knowledge to the talent of tomorrow.

Nakamoto joined Honda as a chassis engineer, moving from two wheels to four but coming to MotoGP in 2009 to take the head role. As Vice President of one of the top teams in the paddock, he was heavily involved in technical development. Under Nakamoto’s direction, the team won four rider titles and five manufacturer’s titles in eight years.

Carmelo Ezpeleta, CEO of Dorna Sports expressed his delight at having Nakamoto join his team, “It is an honour for us to welcome Nakamoto-san to Dorna. ” said Ezpeleta. 

“His experience and success are incomparable and he will be a valuable asset to the company and our vision. We are proud to work with him and look forward to integrating his experience into Dorna and our future.”
