Scuderia Alpha Tauri drivers Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda got to sample the AT02 at the legendary Imola Circuit ahead of Formula 1’s official pre-season test which takes place this weekend, 12-14 March, at the Bahrain International Circuit.

Gasly and rookie Tsunoda joined the team of engineers at Imola back in February on an official filming day which also saw the pair test out the STR14 in an updated livery.

Looking ahead to the 2021 season, Tsunoda is ready for the challenge racing in Formula 1 presents, after finishing third in the FIA Formula 2 championship standings in his rookie season.

The 20-year-old Japanese racer said: “I just want to push hard; I think maybe from the middle of the season I might have some more pressure though. But most people have only seen my performances in Formula 2, not Formula 1 yet. So, I will try and show them what I can do in this new car.”

For Gasly, he had a successful 2020 season, gaining his maiden grand prix victory at Monza last September, which means the pressure is on to continue with the good fortunes from last season.

He said: “I think we showed last year with the win in Monza, but also with other very strong races, that it was a good year where I developed myself and I was able to extract the most out of the car we had. I am excited to try and get us as many points as we can this year and get some more strong results.”
